Depalletisation and palletisation

Robot performs handling tasks

Facilitate work, increase efficiency while reducing costs and accumulating times – Depalletising/Palletising unit for an international producer of batteries.

The plastic boxes filled with micro and mignon cells weigh 20 kilos. Each mesh box pallet serves as a container for both transport and storage and contains over 1.2 million battery cells. The task: destack the boxes, transfer them to a distribution handling system and palletise the empty boxes.

High speed

ETT’s depalletising/palletising unit consists of four palletising stations that are arranged in a semi-circle around a powerful 6-axis robot. This robot is fitted with an “inner gripper” to take the boxes filled with batteries out of two mesh box pallets and stack them onto conveyors. In the next step the boxes are transferred to a downstream system that unloads the batteries for further processing. The empty boxes are returned to ETT’s robot which stacks them back into empty mesh box pallets.

The benefits

The fully automatic industrial robot achieves dynamic accelerations and high axes speeds, even with heavy loads. The entire handling unit requires only a small amount of space and has short change-over times. Integrated accumulation functions ensure continuous processes without interruptions.
