Upside-down into a two-piece tray

Shelf-ready packaging is and will remain a big issue in the packaging industry. ETT have been dealing with this subject for many years: the customer describes his packaging problem and ETT provide the right solution!

For a German cheese producer ETT designed a system for loading bags of grated cheese into two-piece self-ready trays. The machine forms the cover trays while the bags are being collated in a flighted chain. The bags are then loaded upside-down into these cover trays. In the second step the bottom tray is wrapped around the cover tray with the tray walls being interlocked without use of adhesives. This will ensure that the supermarket staff can remove the cover tray quickly and without difficulty at the point-of-sale. Promotionally effective product presentation on the shelf has never been as quick and easy. Meanwhile, it has been scientifically proven that an appealing outer packaging has a positive influence on the customer’s decision to purchase. The Fraunhofer Institute found out that every third consumer even judges the quality of a product by its outer packaging.

ETT’s system is not only fast and efficient but also extremely versatile: it covers the entire process from collating products in one or two rows and loading them into two-piece trays for promotionally effective product presentation and provides the option of integrating a metal-check system as a quality control as well.
