Shelf-ready packaging solution for upside down bottles
Packed in a wraparound case
Shelf-ready packaging is gaining importance in competition – ETT support their customers by providing creative solutions.
For a Norwegian producer of dressings, the market leader in Scandinavia, ETT implemented a complete system for packing bottles of various shapes. It consists of three modules: a tray former, a case packer with a collating scroll and a case sealing module.
One of the central elements of this system is the scroll for collating and supplying the bottles to the gripper pick up position in the correct orientation. The scroll turns the bottles and lines up eight bottles per cycle. The packer picks up the dressing bottles and loads them into a wraparound case with top flaps open – previously erected by the tray former.
A good turn
After having been loaded the trays pass the out-feed section where the flaps are tuck-folded and sealed before the trays are turned over 180 degrees – presenting the bottles standing on their lids/caps. A flap closer for automatically tuck-folding and gluing single sided flaps is used for this process. ETT modified the existing standard modules to ensure it was able to fit into the confined space, but still maintaining optimal performance. In the end, ETT found a solution for a retail compliant shelf-ready packaging that combines easy product handling and optimal presentation of the brand.
